Immaginario e realtà
In un periodo atipico fatto di restrizioni e incertezze, la maggior parte del tempo viene trascorso in casa. E è proprio in casa che si inizia a immaginare il mondo fuori, facendo appello soprattutto alla memoria. Forse i migliori alleati risiedono proprio nella memoria e nell’immaginazione, dove non esistono freni e restrizioni.
Cosa accade se provassimo ad interrogare questa memoria o immaginazione, troppo spesso impigrite dal mondo virtuale, per rappresentare qualcosa con matite, colori e pennelli?
Su queste premesse nasce la mia ricerca sui luoghi frutto di immaginazione. Potrei definirla quasi un effetto collaterale della pandemia che mi ha indotto improvvisamente ad attingere dall’immaginario. Per questo non esistono fotografie o visioni dirette delle scene che rappresento, ma è tutto nella mia testa, nei ricordi mescolati con i sogni e rigettati sul supporto attraverso la sensibilità e il segno pittorico. Nel turbinio di tracce, sintesi e colori il risultato talvolta è riconoscibile in un luogo preciso mentre altre volte si riconosce appena il contesto, spesso lasciando allo spettatore la libertà di collegare quei segni e colori ai propri ricordi e fantasie.

In an atypical time of restrictions and uncertainties, most of the time is spent at home. And it is precisely at home that one begins to imagine the world outside, recalling everything to the memory. Maybe the best allies reside precisely in memory and imagination, where there are no brakes and restrictions.
What happens if we try to interrogate this memory or imagination, too often lazy in the virtual world, to represent something with pencils, colors and brushes?
My research on imaginative places was born on these premises. I could almost define it as a side effect of the pandemic that suddenly led me to draw from the imaginary. This is why there are no photographs or direct visions of the scenes I represent, but it’s all in my head, in memories mixed with dreams and thrown back onto the support through sensitivity and the pictorial sign. In the swirl of traces, synthesis and colors, the result is sometimes recognizable in a precise place while other times the context is barely recognised, often leaving the viewer free to connect those signs and colors to their own memories and fantasies.
